New Creative Hands On Festival
Event will be held at Peterborough Square in September
By Naomi Stock – special to the Examiner
Artisans and vendors are needed for Peterborough’s newest festival. The Creative Hands on Festival, which aims to share the joy of creating by hand, will take place September 13 – 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, in Peterborough Square.
But this is no sale. There will be no sales of handmade creative items by the artisans.
The festival will be an opportunity for the public to meet local artisans, discover craft groups in the area, participate in a hands-on class and take home a small handmade treasure.
The festival is hosted by the Artisans Centre Peterborough, and is organized by Barbara Bellchambers and Anne Carling and their team of volunteers.
Several craft groups, including the Embroiderers’ Guild of Peterborough, the Peterborough Weavers’ and Spinners’ Guild, the Kawartha Gourd Artists, the Kawartha Artists’ Gallery and Studio, the Kawartha Potters’ Guild, the Ontario Wood Carving Association and the Warsaw Knitting Club, will be participating in the event.
Organizers are looking for local artisans who woul like to demonstrate their handcraft skills to the public. This would involve working on a project of your own at the festival, while explaining your craft to the public and answering questions.
Vendors who provide supplies and tools for artisans and creative hobbyists are also welcome.
